PRESS RELEASE 2011 - South Caernarfon Creameries welcomes major Supermarket Buyer
South Caernarfon Creameries, Wales’ leading farmer-owned dairy co-operative recently welcomed a major supermarket buyer to their Chwilog site.
Jon Hollingsworth, who is Asda’s Local/Regional Buyer for Dairy, Cheese & Frozen Food for England and Wales travelled from Leeds to spend the day at the Creamery. The visit included a trip to member farmer Bryn Jones’ farm at Ty Newydd as well as a tour of the Creamery to see the production and packing methods.
“We were obviously very pleased that Jon took time out of his schedule and travel all of the way to see us” said Lynne king, Commercial Director at South Caernarfon Creameries. “The visit was extremely useful for both sides. It enabled us to highlight the authenticity and provenance of our range, which is obviously of paramount importance to a major retail Local Sourcing Buyer. It also prompted a lively discussion about new products and future development and we are delighted that as a result an additional five products will be available in Asda’s Welsh stores from September.”
