South Caernarfon Creameries, Wales’ leading farmer owned dairy co-operative has launched the most traditional of all Welsh Cheeses, Caerphilly.
Their new real Welsh Caerphilly cheese is absolutely oozing with provenance; a traditional Welsh cheese, made in Wales using Welsh milk; they really couldn’t make it more Welsh if they tried and is something that some of the other major Caerphilly producers cannot claim. Their new white cheese has a delicate creamy texture and is branded as part of their Old Shire family brand. It is packed in shelf-ready 200g retail packs and priced at £1.50. It is also available as a larger 2.5kg block to be used on delicatessen counters. The cheese is ideal for retail stores where provenance is of paramount importance.
Caerphilly was traditionally eaten by miners as a good source of protein and to replenish salt. Today it offers a great alternative to Feta in a Greek Salad.
South Caernarfon Creameries has received numerous independent accreditations for their range of cheese and cream. Last year alone they gained over 20 awards at, amongst others, the World Cheese Awards, Royal Welsh Show and the Nantwich International Cheese Show.
